Mitchell fastpitch softball team swept by Sioux Falls Washington ...

SIOUX FALLS ? The Mitchell High School fastpitch got to face one of the state?s top pitchers Monday night at Sherman Park.

Sioux Falls Washington?s Katie Johnson allowed four hits in seven innings and shutout the Kernels in the first game of a doubleheader. Mitchell also lost the second game 11-3.

?She?s one of the best pitchers in the state without question,? Mitchell coach Jim Misiaszek said. ?She?s just a very good, experienced pitcher with all the works.?

Hallie Misiaszek took the loss for Mitchell. She allowed five runs ? one earned ? on 11 hits in seven innings. She struck out four and walked one.

Andrea Sheppard-Kauwalu went 2-for-3 and Katie Lazenby and Abby Sudbeck each had a single for the Kernels.

Sheppard-Kauwalu took the loss in the second game. She allowed five earned runs on six hits in 2 2/3 innings.

Hallie Misiaszek was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Kaleigh Rolle had a two-RBI double for the Kernels. Courtney Moore chipped in two hits.

Mitchell is 4-6 and plays Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Sept. 6 at Sherman Park in Sioux Falls.
